The Edward Coleman Leadership Institute

The first public initiative launched was The STAND Foundation Edward Coleman Leadership Institute, which provides leadership training in the areas of personal, career and leadership development over two years.

In the first year participants attend a minimum of four day-long training sessions, augmented by Internet-based training between sessions. In addition to a focused curriculum, participants complete a community service project plan which they are encouraged to implement in their communities. In the second year participants are matched with professionals in their field of interests for online mentoring. Mentors play a vital role in shaping successful and committed leaders.

At these leadership training sessions, participants hear from some of the most qualified leaders in the state who reiterate the curriculum areas to the participants through their professional experiences. The program is for young and transitioning adults 20 years and older. A graduation ceremony is also held for participants to recognize their accomplishment.
