Clark County is conveniently located in the heart of the southwest portion of the state. Arkadelphia, as the county seat, is a conservative but progressive small town with a heart that is open to all people.
I am currently serving my 4th term as Clark County's Assessor. My job is to credibly assess all personal property and real estate for taxation in accordance to the laws established by the State of Arkansas. As these assessments are made, taxes are produced. These taxes assist our public schools, the local library, city and county roadways, sanitation, jail maintenance and construction. I consider my job a critical piece to our community's puzzle in that important and necessary services are made available to our constituents. For my community to show confidence in me and afford me the privilege to serve as its Assessor humbles me beyond words. I am truly grateful for this service opportunity.
In addition to my role in county government, I serve as chairman of the board for the Community Family Enrichment Center. The center was created to provide needed resources and services for families. We feel if a family foundation is strong, the foundation of the community will equally be strong. I am also a life member of our local NAACP whose mission is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all persons and eliminate racial hatred and discrimination.
In working with the strategic plan, I am proud that one of our goals is to provide more affordable housing for our citizens. Doing so will improve the quality of life for our citizens, encourage stability in families, and also increase tax revenue.
Our community is dedicated to showing the citizens of Clark County that their welfare is our chief concern. An informed community is a healthier community and may discourage a lot of the crime and inequities that characterize many other districts in our state and nation.
